A quick recap: addition to Josh Wardle's enormously successful daily format(Opens in a new browser), there's Lewdle (rude the five letter word only), Absurdle (a completely evil version that alters the guessing process), Primel (five-digit prime numbers only), Sweardle(Opens in a new window) (four-letter words, clearly) And there's more in the works. But like the original flavour the games all refresh once a day, so you won't be thinking up endless words to your hearts content. This is the reason why Wordle is so popular -Wordle Wordle does not want to control and make money out of your attention like the majority of games and apps do -- but it's a fact that once you've done the day's puzzle, that's there until tomorrow. Being human, and thus wired to crave pleasure, you'll always want to have a bit more. So Dordle is fulfilling your desires by acting in the way the mongoose's paw(Opens in another window) would.

Dordle Itwas described by the its developer Zaratustra Productions(Opens in an additional window) (aka Guilherme S. Tows) as "Wordle plus Wordle" -- is definitely in the perilous category of Wordle variants, not only due to the lack of understanding of how to pronounce the name. (Doordle? Durdle?)

The game is comprised of two Wordle grids side by side which work the same way the usual format does - with six odds of guessing five letters, blacked-out areas for letters that aren't present in the solution yellow squares for letters that are in the wrong place, and green for letters in the right space.

The difference, however, is that although there is double the wordle-ing, you'll still only get six chances to guess -- each of which apply to both games at the same time. Each time you're required to decide: Can I think effectively enough to collect more information about these two terms, or do I take a risk on one side to attempt to solve the other?

If you're lucky and/or clever If you're lucky and/or smart, you'll be able solve one side in the first few guesses and then have some leftover to concentrate on solving the second. But if you're able solve the first one on your Fourth or Fifth guess -- especially if you focused only on getting that side solved in the absence of more valuable guesses on opposite side, it's possible that you'll throw a Hail Mary word in there in an attempt to find the twofer.

And what's with those color-coded keyboards? This could be the most clever method. While you're solving both puzzles, letters that were guessed are divided down the middle -- depending on whether there's an appropriately placed E in the left grid and there's no E in the right-hand letter, for instance that E that appears on your keyboard is going to be half gray and half green on the sides that are corresponding. When you have solved one side and the solution's letters are displayed, they get an unobtrusive , green stripe down one side while the second side's colors that are relevant to the puzzle take over all the keys. Also, the keyboard helps you concentrate on that unsolved side.

The good news is that in addition to an everyday Dordle that's identical for all players, Zaratustra also made you the option of a non-daily randomised version you can play dordle games for as many times in a row as you want to perfect your game plan (and your vocab). In fact, all versions, including the unlimited and daily version. Unlimited version(Opens in a brand new window) generate the now-familiar blank grid that you could copy to your clipboard to display your talent (or your failure or failures, plural).

The negative is, like you'd expect, that unlimited Dordles create a situation that is as addicting as it is hard. A timely reminder to anyone who is working on their own Wordle variant right now That you might be too much of one good thing.
